WELCOME TO FEBRUARY!

January has been and gone so QUICKLY! We can't believe it, its nearly been a month since we started our blog!

If you have any kind of beverage we propose a toast, 'To February, may this month be even better than the last . . . if that is even possible :)'.

February Resolutions (because the January ones didn't go quite as planned :S woops)

  1. Stop getting so stressed and JUST RELAX (seriously we need to take a chill pill or two)
  2. Stop spending every time we go shopping and start saving a bit more (its gonna be hard, but we can try)
  3. Read a more variegated genres of books (we usually read adventure/romance so maybe we should try some classics or something? comment below if you have any good book ideas)
  4. Spend less time on technology, because seriously it rules our lives
  5. Try not to get too distracted (we're not really keeping to that resolution right now, because we are supposed to be doing homework, but NEVER MIND)
Hope you guys enjoyed this. Sorry we didn't post yesterday it's just we were at our  friend Jess's house and we weren't anywhere near a computer. :)

LUVS YA!!!

Mini Cinnamon Palmiers - makes roughly 50

  • 60g of Sugar
  • 2 teaspoon on ground cinnamon (depending on how strong you like your cinnamon, we like it VERY strong! Yuuuuum x)
  • 1 30cm of ready to roll pastry of the puff variety (if you are LAZY. Otherwise you could obviously make your own, but tbh we wouldn't know how to cuz we always take the short cut)
  • melt 35g of unsalted butter in a pan before starting
  1. Preheat the oven to 200oC. Line a large baking tray with paper.
  2. Mix the cinnamon and the sugar together in a bowl then put half of it on a worktop (clean obviously) put the ready made (or fresh) pastry on the work surface and sprinkle the rest of the sugar on top. Flatten the pastry with a rolling pin to secure the sugar into the pastry dough, brush on half of the melted butter and roll the pastry into a long 'sausage' shape and slice the pastry into little sections.
  3. Make the strips of pastry into cute rolled shapes and put them into the freezer for around 15-20 minutes (until firm) tightly wrapped in cling film or plastic wrap.
  4. Put them in a prepared tray with around 1-2 cm gap between each one to allow for spreading. Bake them for around 10 mins or until they start to caramelise. Then flip the palmiers and bake for another 2 mins. Allow them to cool caramelised side facing upwards.
You can keep the palmiers for up to a week in an airtight container.

These are so delicious. Tell us how your baking went!

Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee,

Trying to deal with stress - Emily

We all go through stressful times at some points in our life, and I'm one of the WORST people for dealing with it! I put a lot of pressure on myself to do the best that I can (major perfectionist) and sometimes it gets too much. However, I have some coping methods which help me a lot and that I'm going to try to do more of.

1. Listen to music - this is my favourite way to deal with anything. I feel like music is my form of escapism, and music can always make me feel more relaxed and motivated and can pick me up no matter what mood I'm in. I don't know where I'd be without it!

2. Have a bath - a bath or a shower is a really good way of relaxing for me. (See our post about pamper essentials for what I like to put in my baths)

3. Time management: Give yourself a cut off time - if you know you have a lot of work to do, you need to make sure that you try and spread it out, (so its not all too much). Also give yourself time before you go to bed, to read or light candles or do anything that relaxes you so that your mind isn't buzzing when you try and go to sleep. If you can't sleep and your brain is overworking you will only make things worse for yourself the next day by being more tired and ratty; more stressed and worried.

4. Take a break - whether it's going for a run, watching TV, having a cup of tea or a biscuit (or 2). If  it's getting too much for you then you just need to stop, take a break so that you can get refreshed before you so some more work.

5. Try not to procrastinate - this is a lot easier said than done because I ALWAYS manage to procrastinate! But I know that I feel so much better once I've got the work done. If I don't do the work then I'll only feel worse for not doing it.

I hope this helped I know that I will be trying to do these a lot more to deal with my stress and worries!
